Campaign on Immigration Residence and Protection Bill Bill
The Immigration Residence and Protection Bill 2010 is continuing to cruise through the Oireachtas system. Almost 21 of its 168 amendments have been passed by the Select Justice Committee over the last few weeks. As the political situation has changed with the Green Party calling for an early election it remains to be seen whether Minister for Justice and Law Reform Dermot Ahern will manage to bulldoze this unjust piece of legislation through before the proposed elections next year. ARN are hosting a meeting to discuss this Bill and the way forward given the current political situation. To do this we are joined for discussion by Edel McGinley Project Leader with Migrant Rights Centre and Patrick Maphoso a political activist/2009 local election Candidate who has been involved with the campaign.
We also are joined by legal personnel Catherine Cosgrave from Immigrant Council Ireland who has been heavily involved against this unjust legislation.
